Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before you drive

Booking

Our platform operates through a straightforward reservation system. You select a vehicle, choose your dates and pickup location, then confirm online. The contract itself is signed when you collect the car from the local company. Modifications and cancellations follow the terms displayed during booking and outlined in your voucher.

How do I make a reservation?

Enter your pickup location, dates and times on the homepage. Browse available vehicles, select one that suits your needs, fill in driver details, and complete the online booking advance. You will receive a voucher by email with all pickup instructions and the local company contact details.

When will I receive my booking confirmation?

The voucher arrives by email within minutes of completing your reservation. Check your spam folder if it does not appear. The voucher contains the pickup address, local company name, your reservation reference, and the amount due on collection.

Can I book without a credit card?

The online booking advance is paid by card through our website. The final payment method at pickup depends on the specific vehicle you select. Some cars accept debit cards or cash for the balance, others require a credit card. These requirements are shown clearly during booking and in your voucher.

Payment and Advance

When you book online, you pay a booking advance by card. The remaining balance is settled when you collect the vehicle. Payment methods for the balance vary by car and are specified in your voucher. We do not accept cash for online transactions.

What is the booking advance?

This is the amount you pay online to secure your reservation. It is deducted from the total cost. The remaining balance is paid directly to the local company when you pick up the car. The advance is non-refundable once the booking is confirmed, subject to the cancellation policy.

What payment methods do you accept online?

We accept debit and credit cards for the booking advance. Cash cannot be used for online payments. For the balance at pickup, options depend on the vehicle. Some cars allow debit cards or cash, others require a credit card. Full details are at payment methods.

Will I need to pay extra charges at pickup?

Optional services such as a second driver, child seat, motorway vignette, or cross-border travel to Germany, Austria, Poland and Slovakia require prior permission and incur additional fees. These are paid directly to the local company. The voucher lists any included services and notes optional extras.

Deposit and Credit Card

Many vehicles require a security deposit, which is a hold placed on a card by the local company. This is separate from the advance you pay us online. The hold is released after you return the car undamaged. Some vehicles do not require a deposit at all.

What is a security deposit?

A deposit is a temporary hold on funds, placed by the local rental company at pickup. It covers potential damage or violations during your rental period. The hold is released when you return the car in the same condition, typically within a few days. This is independent of any insurance or damage coverage.

Do all cars require a deposit?

No. Some vehicles are available with no deposit at all. Others require a hold on a credit or debit card. The deposit requirement is shown for each car during the booking process and confirmed in your voucher. It varies by vehicle, not by category.

What if I do not have a credit card?

Choose a vehicle that accepts a debit card or has no deposit requirement. If a car requires a credit card for the deposit or final payment, consider increasing the limit on your debit card or arranging access to a credit card. Requirements are specific to each vehicle and stated upfront.

Documents and Age

You need a valid driving licence and identification to collect your car. Age limits depend on the vehicle. International drivers can use their home licence, though an International Driving Permit may be requested by the local company in certain cases.

What documents do I need at pickup?

Bring your driving licence, a valid passport or ID card, and the card used for the online booking advance. If a deposit is required, bring the card specified in the voucher. The local company will verify these documents before handing over the keys.

Can I drive with a foreign licence?

Yes. Licences issued outside the Czech Republic are generally accepted. EU citizens do not need an International Driving Permit. Drivers from other countries may be asked for an IDP by the local company, though it is not legally mandatory for short stays. Check your voucher for specific requirements.

Is there a minimum age to rent?

Minimum age varies by vehicle. Many cars require the driver to be at least 21 years old with one year of driving experience. Larger vehicles or premium models may require age 25 or older. The age requirement is listed for each car during booking.

Pickup and Return

Collection happens at the location you selected when booking. This might be a desk at Vaclav Havel Airport Prague (PRG), a city office in Stare Mesto, or delivery to your hotel. Instructions and the company contact are in your voucher. Return procedures are explained at pickup.

Where do I collect the car?

The exact address and pickup instructions are in your voucher. At PRG, some companies operate from a desk in the terminal, others from a nearby location. In Prague city, offices are typically in or near Stare Mesto. Hotel delivery is available for some bookings. The voucher includes a contact number for the local company.

What happens during the vehicle handover?

You sign the rental agreement with the local company. The staff will walk around the car with you, noting existing scratches or dents in the contract. This inspection protects both parties. You will also receive keys, any optional extras you requested, and guidance on returning the car.

Can I return the car outside business hours?

Some companies offer after-hours drop-off using a key drop box. This depends on the specific company and must be arranged in advance. Standard return hours are during the company operating times, which are in your voucher. Contact the company directly if you need flexibility.

Driving in Czech Republic

Czech roads follow right-hand traffic. Speed limits are 50 km/h in urban areas, 90 km/h on rural roads, and 130 km/h on motorways. A motorway vignette is required for major routes such as D1, D2, D3, D5, D8 and D11. Vignettes are sold at borders and fuel stations including Benzina, Shell, and MOL.

Do I need a motorway vignette?

Yes, if you plan to use motorways such as D1 to Brno, D5 towards Plzen, or D8 north to Bohemian Switzerland National Park. The vignette is not included automatically. You can request it as an optional extra when booking, or purchase it yourself at the border or a fuel station. Driving without one results in fines.

Can I drive to neighbouring countries?

Cross-border travel to Germany, Austria, Poland and Slovakia is generally allowed with prior permission from the rental company. This must be arranged before you collect the car and may incur an additional fee. Unauthorised border crossings can void your coverage and result in penalties.

What are the main routes from Prague?

Karlovy Vary is 130 km west via Route 6. Cesky Krumlov lies 175 km south on Route 3. Brno is 210 km southeast along the D1 motorway. Kutna Hora is 80 km east, Liberec 100 km north, and Ostrava 360 km east. Vaclav Havel Airport Prague (PRG) is 17 km west of the city centre via Route 7 and Evropska street, about 25 minutes.

Changes and Cancellation

If your plans shift, contact us as soon as possible. Cancellation policies depend on how far in advance you notify us and are detailed in your booking confirmation. Changes to dates, times, or vehicle type may be possible, subject to availability and any applicable fees.

Can I cancel my booking?

Cancellation terms are shown during the booking process and in your voucher. Some reservations allow cancellation up to a certain number of hours before pickup with a partial refund. Others are non-refundable. Contact us at contact or email [email protected] as soon as you know your plans have changed.

How do I change my pickup time or location?

Email [email protected] with your booking reference and the new details. Changes are subject to availability and may incur a fee. It is easier to modify your reservation well in advance. Last-minute changes may not be possible, especially during peak season in summer or around major holidays.

What if my flight is delayed?

Inform the local company as soon as you know about the delay. The contact number is in your voucher. Most companies will hold the car for a reasonable delay, but prolonged waits or missed pickups may result in cancellation. Arriving later than your booked time does not automatically extend your return deadline.
