These Terms and Conditions govern your use of services provided by 4Drive Czech Republic. By completing a booking through our platform, you agree to these terms in full. Please read them carefully before proceeding with any reservation.
4Drive Czech Republic operates a booking platform connecting clients with local rental companies across the Czech Republic. We facilitate reservations for vehicles located in Prague, Brno, Karlovy Vary, and other locations throughout the country. Our role is to process your booking and provide you with a voucher containing all necessary details for vehicle collection.
The actual rental agreement is a separate contract between you and the local rental company named in your voucher. That company provides the vehicle, handles vehicle handover and return, and manages any issues arising during the rental period. We are not a party to that rental agreement.
Each rental company operates independently and maintains its own fleet, insurance arrangements, and operational procedures. The terms of your rental agreement may include additional provisions beyond these Terms and Conditions.
When you complete a booking on our platform, you receive a voucher by email. This voucher contains confirmation of your reservation, details of the vehicle reserved, collection location and time, contact information for the rental company, and instructions for vehicle handover.
You must present this voucher when collecting the vehicle. At that point, the rental company will ask you to sign a rental agreement. This agreement is a legally binding contract between you and that company. It governs your use of the vehicle and sets out your responsibilities during the rental period.
The rental agreement includes a vehicle condition report documenting any existing damage. You must inspect the vehicle carefully before departure and ensure all damage is recorded in this document. Photographs taken at handover can provide additional evidence of the vehicle's condition.
Your voucher specifies all terms applicable to your booking, including mileage allowances, fuel policy, permitted drivers, and any restrictions on vehicle use. These terms form part of the rental agreement you sign at collection.
When you complete a booking, you pay a booking advance online by card. This advance secures your reservation and is deducted from the total rental cost. Online payment by cash is not available.
The remaining balance is due when you collect the vehicle. The payment method accepted for this balance depends on the specific vehicle you have booked. Your voucher states clearly whether the rental company accepts debit card, cash, credit card, or a combination of these methods.
Payment requirements vary between vehicles, not between vehicle categories. Two similar vehicles in the same location may have different payment terms. Always check your voucher to confirm which methods the rental company will accept for your particular booking.
If you do not have a credit card and the voucher requires one, consider increasing the limit on your debit card before collection. Some rental companies accept high-limit debit cards as an alternative.
Most rental companies require a deposit at vehicle collection. This is a temporary hold or block placed on your card to cover potential damage, traffic fines, toll charges, or fuel discrepancies. The deposit is not a payment - it is released after vehicle return once the company confirms no issues have arisen.
Deposit amounts and the card type required vary by vehicle. Your voucher specifies the exact deposit amount and whether a credit card or debit card is acceptable. These requirements are set by the rental company and depend on the individual vehicle, its value, and the company's policies.
The deposit is separate from any insurance excess or damage waiver. Even if you purchase additional coverage, the rental company may still require a deposit. The two are independent parameters.
Deposits are typically released within 7-14 days of vehicle return, though the exact timeframe depends on your card issuer and the rental company's processes.
All drivers must present a valid driving licence at vehicle collection. Foreign driving licences are accepted in the Czech Republic. An International Driving Permit is not mandatory for EU citizens but may be required for licences issued outside Europe - check your voucher for specific requirements related to your booking.
Additional drivers may be added to the rental agreement at vehicle collection. This service typically incurs an extra charge. All drivers must be present when the rental agreement is signed and must provide their driving licence for inspection.
The rental company verifies your identity and licence validity at handover. Ensure your licence is current and valid for the entire rental period. Driving with an expired or invalid licence may void your insurance coverage.
You must operate the vehicle in accordance with Czech traffic law. Speed limits are 50 km/h in urban areas, 90 km/h on rural roads, and 130 km/h on motorways. The Czech Republic uses right-hand traffic.
A motorway vignette is required for travel on D1, D2, D3, D5, D8, and D11 motorways. Vignettes are available at border crossings and fuel stations. You can also request this service when booking - charges apply.
Travel to neighbouring countries including Germany, Austria, Poland, and Slovakia is generally allowed only with written permission from the rental company. You must arrange this permission in advance before your rental begins. Cross-border travel without permission may void your insurance and incur penalties.
You may not use the vehicle for commercial transport, racing, off-road driving beyond gravel roads suitable for the vehicle type, or any illegal purpose. Smoking in the vehicle is typically prohibited - check your rental agreement for specific rules.
If you need to modify your booking, contact us at [email protected] as soon as possible. We will assist where feasible, though changes may be subject to availability and may affect the rental cost.
Cancellation terms vary depending on when you cancel relative to your collection date. Your booking confirmation email contains specific cancellation terms applicable to your reservation. Refunds, where applicable, are processed to the original payment method.
If you fail to collect the vehicle at the agreed time and location without prior notice, the rental company may release the vehicle to other clients. In such cases, refunds are typically not available.
4Drive Czech Republic acts as a booking platform. We are not liable for the condition, performance, or suitability of vehicles provided by rental companies. Any claims relating to vehicle condition, mechanical issues, accidents, or service quality during the rental period must be directed to the rental company named in your voucher.
We do not control vehicle availability, road conditions, border crossing permissions, or local regulations. You are responsible for ensuring the vehicle and rental terms meet your requirements before confirming your booking.
Your rental agreement with the local company contains provisions governing liability for damage, theft, and accidents. Insurance coverage terms are set by that company and detailed in the rental agreement you sign at collection.
If you experience any issues during your rental, contact the rental company immediately using the details provided in your voucher. Most problems can be resolved quickly through direct communication.

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of the Czech Republic. Any disputes arising from these terms or from bookings made through our platform fall under the jurisdiction of Czech courts.
Your rental agreement with the local rental company is a separate contract and may contain its own governing law provisions. That agreement takes precedence for matters relating to vehicle use, damage, insurance claims, and disputes with the rental company.
